Business Communication is the life-blood of every commercial transaction. From persuading an investor, negotiating with a supplier, resolving a customer complaint, to documenting Board decisions, the ability to write, speak and listen with clarity, conciseness and courtesy decides whether a deal is won or lost, a relationship is built or broken, and an organisation is perceived as professional or amateur. This course equips B.Com. students with the conceptual base (what is effective communication?), the skill-set (how to draft letters, memos, reports, e-mails, minutes, video-conference scripts), and the technology tools (internet, websites, fax, e-mail, video-conferencing) that modern commerce demands. Emphasis is placed on real-world genres such as banking, insurance, agency and shareholder correspondence, sales & complaint handling, meeting documentation and on-line business etiquette. Extensive practice, peer-review and feedback ensure that every student graduates with a portfolio of error-free, audience-centric documents and the confidence to communicate in any business situation.
