Environment of Business introduces students to the external forces that influence business decisions, growth, and survival in today’s dynamic world. Every business operates within a larger system shaped by economic trends, government policies, legal regulations, social values, cultural practices, demographics, natural resources, and technological developments. Understanding these factors is essential for students to interpret real-world business changes and make informed judgments.
The course covers the dimensions of the business environment, India’s political and economic framework, different economic systems, the role of government in business, the evolution of India’s industrial policies, the impact of Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation (LPG), and the working of global organisations such as GATT and WTO. It also highlights the benefits and challenges of multinational corporations and emphasises social responsibility, business ethics, and stakeholder obligations.
By the end of this course, students will develop the ability to analyse external trends, foresee opportunities and risks, and understand how responsible business aligns economic goals with societal welfare.
