provides students with a clear and practical understanding of how the Indian economy functions, evolves, and influences business decisions in real life. The course begins by analysing the characteristics of developing and mixed economies, supported by indicators such as HDI and Gini Index, and sectoral contributions of agriculture, industry, and services. Students then explore key demographic challenges and opportunities, including population trends, poverty, unemployment, and the concept of demographic dividend. The course also develops economic literacy through topics such as inflation, national income measurement, taxation, monetary and fiscal policies, trade, and balance of payments. Finally, it examines major economic reforms in India, including liberalisation, privatisation, disinvestment, and globalisation, enabling learners to connect historical policy decisions with contemporary outcomes. By the end of the course, students will be able to interpret economic data, understand policy implications, and relate economic trends to business, society, and personal financial decisions.
